July Book Haul - Part 1!

Hello delightful booky-wooks!!
Who else can't believe it's August already?! My boyfriends birthday is on the 11th and it's snuck up on me so much! Luckily I just have to buy him a present and not a card as we don't bother with cards, save the trees and all that (I'm a bit of a hippy on the sly..).
We're off to Liverpool for a few days from Sunday for some shopping and ''us'' time so I will probably pick up a few books while I'm there...and maybe some clothes...and some makeup....you get the idea ;).

Onto the haul!

The Mortal Instruments Series 1-5 Box Set by Cassandra Clare
Synopsis - Sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is an ordinary teenager, who likes hanging out in Brooklyn with her friends. But everything changes the night she witnesses a murder, committed by a group of teens armed with medieval weaponry.

The murderous group are Shadowhunters, secret warriors dedicated to driving demons out of this dimension and back into their own. Drawn inexorably into a terrifying world, Clary slowly begins to learn the truth about her family - and the battle for the fate of the world.
I've been wanting to buy City of Bones for a while now so when I saw this box set on The Works for only £10.99 I had to snap it up!! 5 books for that price is amazing.
They usually have these sets in stock quite regularly so, even though it's sold out now, it'll more than likely be back in stock soon.
Link to the set is here.

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma
Synopsis - She is pretty and talented - sweet sixteen and never been kissed.
He is seventeen; gorgeous and on the brink of a bright future.
And now they have fallen in love.
But . . .
They are brother and sister.
If that synopsis doesn't grab you then I don't know what will!!
It might not be the topic for everyone, but I think this sounds like a really interesting book and it's been on my wish list for a long time so I'm stoked to finally own it!

You're the One That I Want by Giovanna Fletcher
Synopsis - Maddy, dressed in white, stands at the back of the church. At the end of the aisle is Rob - the man she's about to marry. Next to Rob is Ben - best man and the best friend any two people ever had.
And that's the problem
Because if it wasn't Rob waiting for her at the altar, there's a strong chance it would be Ben. Loyal and sensitive Ben has always kept his feelings to himself, but if he turned round and told Maddy she was making a mistake, would she listen? And would he be right?
Best friends since childhood, Maddy, Ben and Rob thought their bond was unbreakable. But love changes everything. Maddy has a choice to make but will she choose wisely? Her heart, and the hearts of the two best men she knows, depend on it..
I've heard a lot of hype about Giovanna Fletcher, who is the wife of Tom from the pop band McFly, apparently she's the new chick-lit queen on the scene!
I'm a big fan of fluffy, romantic books so I hope I'll really enjoy this book and her writing style, she seems like a really nice woman, down to earth!
Plus the cover is really bright and exotic looking, I love it!

Billy and Me by Giovanna Fletcher
Synopsis -
Sophie May has a secret.
One that she's successfully kept for years. It's meant that she's had to give up her dreams of going to university and travelling the world to stay in her little village, living with her mum and working in the local teashop.
But then she meets the gorgeous Billy - an actor with ambitions to make it to the top. And when they fall in love, Sophie is whisked away from the comfort of her life into Billy's glamorous - but ruthless - world.
Their relationship throws Sophie right into the spotlight after years of shying away from attention. Can she handle the constant scrutiny that comes with being with Billy? And most of all, is she ready for her secret heartbreak to be discovered and shared with the nation?
This is another novel by Giovanna, I believe this was her first book and it has a recommendation from Jill Mansell on the front cover, Jill is a great author so I have high hopes for this book!

Day of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
Synopsis - Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a new way of living - one without massacres and torn throats and bonfires of the fallen, without revenants or bastard armies or children ripped from their mothers' arms to take their turn in the killing and dying. Once, the lovers lay entwined in the moon's secret temple and dreamed of a world that was a like a jewel-box without a jewel - a paradise waiting for them to find it and fill it with their happiness. This was not that world.
If you read my July wrap-up you'd know that I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone and I absolutely LOVED it, so naturally I bought the sequel almost straight away!!
Love the cover, it doesn't match the first book I own but I couldn't for the life of me find the matching edition to that one, so I had to make do with this one, it pains me that they don't match though...#firstworldproblems.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Synopsis - We are the Liars. We are beautiful, privileged and live a life of carefree luxury. We are cracked and broken. A story of love and romance. A tale of tragedy. Which are lies? Which is truth?
I've already read this book and I spoke a bit about it in my wrap-up (link here) and I was underwhelmed by it! People have been raving about it on booktube and the book community but I found it a bit predictable.

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
Synopsis - It's 1999 and for the staff of one newspaper office, the internet is still a novelty. By day, two young women, Beth and Jennifer, spend their hours emailing each other, discussing in hilarious detail every aspect of their lives, from love troubles to family dramas. And by night, Lincoln, a shy, lonely IT guy spends his hours reading every exchange.
At first their emails offer a welcome diversion, but as Lincoln unwittingly becomes drawn into their lives, the more he reads, the more he finds himself falling for one of them. By the time Lincoln realizes just how head-over-heels he really is, it's way too late to introduce himself. What would he say to her? 'Hi, I'm the guy who reads your e-mails - and also, I think I love you'.
After a series of close encounters, Lincoln decides it's time to muster the courage to follow his heart, and find out whether there really is such a thing as love before first-sight.
I loved Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and I've just finished reading Eleanor & Park, which I enjoyed but not as much as Fangirl by far!
So I thought it was time to grow my collection a bit, plus this sounds like a really interesting topic for a book, and as a child of the 90's I'm interested to see if this book has any references in it I recognise!

What a Girl Wants by Lindsey Kelk
Synopsis - Being arrested in your own bedroom is never a good start to the day. Tess Brookes really needs to sort out her back-stabbing flatmate – and her life.
Should she gamble all on the new photography job she’s landed, or snap up the offer from long-time crush and best friend Charlie to start up on their own – in more ways than one? There’s just one small thing she hasn’t mentioned. Or rather, one tall thing. He’s handsome, infuriating and called Nick…
For the first time, Tess has to choose between the life she always dreamed of and a future she never imagined possible. From London to Milan, with high fashion and low behaviour thrown in, she’s going to have to make up her mind what a girl really wants…
I'm a big fan of Lindsey Kelk's writing so when I saw that this book was coming out I snapped it up from Amazon straight away! And with Prime membership, this book arrived the day it came out, which is awesome!

There's part 1 of my haul, stay tuned for part 2!
