May Book Haul - Part 2!

Welcome booky-wooks!!
Today is an exciting day for me as I'm going to look at a few new houses with my boyfriend! Keep your fingers crossed that we find something amazing :D.
I'm also at work today from 2pm, which SUCKS but then I'm off tomorrow and after Monday I'm off for a WHOLE WEEK, pinch me, I must be dreaming!
Anyway, enough about me, it's time for part 2 of my May book haul!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Synopsis - Errand requiring immediate attention. Come. The note was on vellum, pierced by the talons of the almost-crow that delivered it. Karou read the message. 'He never says please', she sighed, but she gathered up her things. When Brimstone called, she always came. In general, Karou has managed to keep her two lives in balance. On the one hand, she's a seventeen-year-old art student in Prague; on the other, errand-girl to a monstrous creature who is the closest thing she has to family. Raised half in our world, half in 'Elsewhere', she has never understood Brimstone's dark work - buying teeth from hunters and murderers - nor how she came into his keeping. She is a secret even to herself, plagued by the sensation that she isn't whole. Now the doors to Elsewhere are closing, and Karou must choose between the safety of her human life and the dangers of a war-ravaged world that may hold the answers she has always sought.
I've wanted this book for a while but it was always too pricey on Amazon and The Book Depository, so when I saw this on a site called Jazmin Books (link here) for £3.46 I knew I had to have it!!
I also love this cover and think it's a lot prettier than the other versions, the picture doesn't really do it justice but it's sort of shimmery, almost like peacock feathers!

Reader & Writer by Erec Stebbins
Reader synopsis - She was a VICTIM: enslaved after her parents' murder. She was made a MONSTER: deformed, modified against her will. She became a MESSIAH: opening the Orbs and leading a galactic rebellion.

Share the cosmic quest of seventeen-year-old Ambra Dawn, Reader, and the most unbelievable step in the adventure - will be your own.

Writer Synopsis - From hatred, Love. From many, One.
Book 2 in the Daughter of Time trilogy: A love story and sci-fi epic about the beautiful and terrible destiny of profoundly star-crossed lovers with a galaxy's fate in their hands.
I received these review copies last month so I thought I'd include them in my haul too.
I'm quite picky about which books I say yes to reviewing but I love the sound of these fantasy romances and I think the covers are great! You can purchase these and all of Erecs other books on Amazon (link here).

Divergent by Veronica Roth
Synopsis - For sixteen-year-old Tris, the world changes in a heartbeat when she is forced to make a terrible choice. Turning her back on her family, Tris ventures out, alone, determined to find out where she truly belongs.
Shocked by the brutality of her new life, Tris can trust no one. And yet she is drawn to a boy who seems to both threaten and protect her. The hardest choices may yet lie ahead….
I'm reading this book currently and I'm really enjoying it! I'd heard a lot about Divergent so when I was given the chance to review it for The Works I jumped at it!!
You can read more about what I think of this book in my Friday Reads post so I won't go on about it now.

Night Music by Jojo Moyes
Synopsis - Isabel Delancey has always taken her gifted life for granted. But when her husband dies suddenly, leaving her with a mountain of debt, she and her two children are forced to abandon their home and move to a crumbling pile in the country.
With the house falling down around them, and the last of her savings fast disappearing, Isabel turns to her neighbours, not knowing that her mere presence there has stirred up long-standing obsessions.
As she fights to make her house a home, passions and lives collide. Isabel will discover an instinct for survival she never knew she had - and that a heart can play a new song . . .
I'm a huge fan of Jojo Moyes' writing so whenever I see one of her books for a good price I pick it up, and this one was on The Works for £1.99, which for a hardback is an amazing deal!

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins
Synopsis - Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper's destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can't get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she's charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper's least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him—and discovers that David's own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.
If you haven't heard of this book then I'm going to assume you've just returned from a vacation to Mars! This has been SO unbelievably raved about on Booktube, I don't think I've heard one bad review, so when payday rolled around I knew I had to have it!

A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin
Synopsis - Throughout Westeros, the cold winds are rising.
From the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding lands of Winterfell, chaos reigns as pretenders to the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms stake their claims through tempest, turmoil and war.
As a prophecy of doom cuts across the sky - a comet the colour of blood and flame - five factions struggle for control of a divided land. Brother plots against brother and the dead rise to walk in the night.
I'm a huge fan of these new Waterstones designed covers! I'm slowly collecting them all, even though I haven't even read the first book yet, because I love them so much! I know a lot of people didn't really like these new covers because they aren't ''fantasy'' enough but I really love the landscape shots on the covers, I think they're stunning!

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Synopsis - Wuthering Heights is a wild, passionate story of the intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine's father. After Mr Earnshaw's death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine's brother Hindley and wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, leaves Wuthering Heights, only to return years later as a wealthy and polished man. He proceeds to exact a terrible revenge for his former miseries.
I love these Penguin Clothbound Classics and this is another series of covers I'm slowly collecting (my new house is clearly going to be book FILLED) because they're so beautiful and I can envisage a book shelf with the whole collection on!

Splintered by A.G. Howard
Synopsis - Alyssa Gardner has been down the rabbit hole. She was crowned Queen of the Red Court and faced the bandersnatch. She saved the life of Jeb, the boy she loves and escaped the machinations of the disturbingly appealing Morpheus. Now all she has to do is graduate high school. That would be easier without her mother, freshly released from an asylum, acting more protective than she needs to. And it would be much simpler if the mysterious Morpheus didn't show up for school one day to tempt her with another dangerous quest. Could she leave Jeb and her parents behind again, for the sake of a man she knows has manipulated her before? Will her mother and Jeb trust her to do what's right? Can she trust herself to make the smart decision?
A couple of months ago I read Splintered, the first book in this trilogy (at least I think it's a trilogy, could be more!) so when I got paid this was one of the first books in my Amazon basket!!
The covers beautiful, I adored the cover of Splintered and all the rich colours and this one is no different.

There we are!! Hope you all enjoyed that post and that you've been able to add a few more books to your TBR ;)
