April Wrap-Up!

Hello everyone!!
Who else can't believe it's already May?! Before we know it it'll be Christmas again, and if I'm honest, I'm excited for it already!
Onto the wrap-up!
Splintered by A.G. Howard
This book wins the award for the most beautiful cover of the year so far! Whoever the girl is on the front she's so beautiful, and the beauty blogger in me loves her lippy!!
The inside of the book is just as pretty, the font is purple and at the start of every chapter there's a lovely, intricate design drawn in, the attention to detail is wonderful!

This book an Alice in Wonderland re-telling, it follows Alyssa who is a descendant of the one and only Alice, of Wonderland fame!
To save her mothers sanity and lift the Wonderland curse on her family she finds herself whisked away to Wonderland to meet all the weird and wonderful characters from the Lewis Carroll novel, except the characters aren't as wonderful, and even more weird, than they appeared in the book and it becomes apparent that Carroll has used some ''artistic licence''.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads, I loved the world building and the action-packed plot, as well as her romance with Jeb, but I felt like I couldn't give the book 5 stars because I really couldn't warm to Morpheus, I felt like he was far too sly and I didn't really understand why Alyssa felt so drawn to him when she already had Jeb, who's ten times better in my opinion! But maybe in the future books I will realise why she feels this way about him, but for now I'm in the dark!

Cinder by Marissa Meyer
This is such a hyped up book that I knew I had to get round to it sooner rather than later! It's another fairytale re-telling, this time it's Cinderella that's getting rehashed!

The basic plot is that Cinder is a girl who works from dusk til' dawn earning money for her cruel step-mother and two step-sisters (neither of them ugly, one of them's actually very nice!), but the main difference is that Cinder is actually part cyborg!
She lives in futuristic New Beijing which is under threat from a deadly plague that no-one knows a cure for.
When her beloved step-sister gets ill, and Cinder gets blamed for it, her life takes a very unexpected turn.

I found this book a bit slow to start with, took me about quarter of the way through the book to get into it, but I loved the romance between Cinder and Prince Kai, surely that's every girls dream to have a sexy prince lusting after you?!
I'll be honest, I guessed how the plot was going to turn out pretty much from the start, it was quite obvious what was going to happen, but I'm not saying that in a negative way, I was hoping that it would turn out the way it did so I was very pleased!
I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads.

The Time of my Life by Cecelia Ahern
This story centres around Lucy Silchester, and she has been contacted by her life, and he's not happy with her!
By her life, I don't mean metaphorically, I mean literally, this is a version of our world where your life is represented by an actual person, and the more you do with your life the happier ''your life'' will be, and Lucy's life is not in a good way.
Lucy has split up with her boyfriend, lost her job, pushed away her friends and family and never lets anyone in her flat apart from her gender-confused cat, but she's convinced she's ok so when her life comes calling she doesn't understand what all the fuss is about!
But soon she begins to realise that she is not as happy as she's tried to fool herself she is.

I love Cecelia Ahern and I always enjoy her books, and this one was no exception!
I loved the idea of your life being an actual person who would get ill, get spots and rashes and become generally surly and unhappy if you don't do enough with your life and live it to the fullest.
This is a book that is a enjoyable love story, with a likeable heroine, but also had a strong message in it for me which really made me think, and even made me a bit emotional by the end!
It also has some horrible characters which are written very well, like Lucy's father, who's a nasty piece of work!
I gave this book a grand total of 5 out of 5! Cecelia knocked it out of the park again!

I'm happy with the 3 books I read last month! I hope this month is as successful for me :)
Toodles! x
